Theresia Thylin is the Gender and Humanitarian Specialist at UN Women in New York. Ms. Thylin provides both technical advisory, support on crisis management response, humanitarian coordination and normative processes. She has over 11 years of experience in the field of gender equality, humanitarian action and GBV and has been working in Latin America, the Middle East and Africa. Before joining UN Women’s Humanitarian Unit, Ms. Thylin was working for the UN Trust Fund, managing the Fund’s work on addressing Violence against Women and Girls in Conflict, Post-conflict and Transitional Settings. She has also served the United Nations Regional Centre for Peace, Disarmament and Development in Latin America and the Caribbean (UN-LiREC) in Peru, the Colombian Presidential Agency for Reintegration of Ex-combatants, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for the Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in Jordan, and civil society and women’s organizations. Ms. Thylin holds a Master degree in social science from the University of Lund in Sweden and is a PhD candidate at the University of Essex in the UK.
